Purpose
The Role: Usability Evaluator assesses predecessors of the intended solution, in particular, those solutions by competitors. Evaluations are based on principles and techniques experts use when developing new applications.
Establishing benchmarks allows the team to:
- Learn from and better understand competitors
- Spark ideas for features, content, and organization of the new system
Frequency
This activity is usually done once per project during the Inception phase. The depth and formality of analysis varies by project.
